A Dear John Letter to the Post-Season

Dear Post-Season,

Look, we’ve had some wonderful times over the years.  Iggy beating up Lecavalier, the disallowed goal, losing in the first round, McLennan slashing the stomach of Franzen before losing in the first round, losing in the first round again, and not making it past the first round.

Seriously, these were wonderful times, and I’ll treasure them forever.  But it’s over.  We can’t see each other anymore.  There’s…someone else.  And he’s made it very clear we’re not allowed to see each other.  By trading away cap space and passable players for no cap space to resign good players, he’s put his foot down on our flings.

Much like a young couple, he encouraged experimentation back in ’04, he just wasn’t willing to let the two of us go all the way.  But as time has gone on, he’s become more and more resistant to me seeing you, and now it’s time for goodbye.

Post-Season, it’s not you- it’s me.  Maybe someday in the future we can see each other again.  Maybe I can even touch your Cup, if you know what I mean.  But that day isn’t today.  Or probably next year for that matter.

I’ll miss you Post-Season, always remember that.
